Project Dandelion
Confidential Client
Role: UX Consultant
I was hired as a consultant by a local design firm that lacked UX expertise to support the development of a blood testing service and an associated mobile application for managing and tracking test appointments, results, patient education, and data trends over time. The client was a well known bio-medical company.
Service Blueprint
The project involved the design of the service itself, including the needs of the physical service locations and of all stakeholders, whether internal to the provider, primary care physicians, or patients / consumers.
Portion of a Preliminary Service Blueprint
Wireframe
I supported the development of the product requirements document based on which I generated a wireframe wireframe interface.
The interface was reviewed as both static images and “click through” pdfs depicting key workflows.
Screen & Interaction Design
Once the wireframe was approved I developed a visual design to be applied to the interface. For the sake of speed and because the ultimate prototype would be reviewed primarily by internal stakeholders the design was kept simple and clean.
User Testing
Based on agreed upon scenarios I collaborated with the team to create a test protocol in preparation for user testing. Client employees unfamiliar with the project were recruited to participate.
UI Mockup
I used Axure to create a prototype that ran on an iPhone. While the fidelity was high the interactions that were possible were limited to the workflows we intended to test.
The interviews were recorded and the data synthesized so that I could create a final report & recommendations for changes / improvements to the app and service.
All of the outputs of the effort from industrial design, to service design, to app design were intended to be used by the client to internally evaluate the feasibility of the proposed service.
